You may buy a painting because you like the colors or the composition. You may be looking for a beautiful realistic or abstract painting. But sometimes… or perhaps more often than we think… it’s about the feeling you get when you look at it.
What I loved hearing about my paintings is that they bring peace and flow to the room in which they hang. They are a calming presence on the wall, which in turn creates space to experience a moment of peace in your home. With a blanket and a cup of tea on the sofa, at the table with a journal, a moment for yoga or a book, or just sitting quietly and being still to recover from the day.
There is often a moment in the painting process when everything comes to a standstill. I take a step back to look at the painting from a distance, I grab a cup of tea and sit for a moment looking at the painting, I do some conscious movement exercises or take a moment of rest in silence.
There are no brushstrokes, no rustling of paper, no shuffling of paint pots. Only peace and quiet.
How wonderful that this peace and quiet seems to remain part of the painting.
